Fieldwork Manager Mauritius

Purpose of the role

Oversee the implementation of fieldwork for all projects assigned and assist in administrative tasks required for project implementation.

Coordinate with Research Department, Data Services and other support units on schedules and project status.
Ensure compliance with the requirements of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).
Evaluate work performance of Field Executives and Assistants, Field Supervisors and contractual Field Interviewers
Role deliverables:

Field Execution

A. Pre-launch

Plan fieldwork implementation in accordance to requirements indicated in the Project Information Sheet
Prepare list of survey specification such as area, sampling, target respondent, etc.
Review potential central location sites and sample spot maps
Prepare and validate, with Sales Department, field cost or Request for Quotation (RFQ)
Conduct pre-briefing with Field Supervisor/ Field Executive/ Field Assistant on fieldwork specification and requirements
Conduct pre-test especially for non-standard questionnaires
Check questionnaire and show cards translated in local languages
Prepare quality control formats (as per study requirements)
Check the inventory of products needed

B. Launch

Assist in conducting the project briefing
Check final version of questionnaire, show cards, concept boards and other equipment
Review and sign request for freelancers contracts
Conduct start-off on project launch for alignment
Conduct clearing after 2-3 days of fieldwork and identify/address problems encountered during start-off
Check project control
Address Research Departments and Data Services queries and provide project updates
Handle crises such as complaints from respondents
Audit edited questionnaires of Field Supervisor/ Field Executive/ Field Assistant in charge of the project
Monitor if field expenses are within budget

C. Post-fieldwork

Ensure return of all equipment
Check project billing invoice of 3rd Party Suppliers
Review Field Interviewers/Field Supervisors’ performance evaluation
Check completeness of project folders and submit signed project folders to Quality Control
Coordinate with coding on result of projects
Carry-out project customer satisfaction survey with internal client

People Management

Plan manpower requirement
Handle the training of all field staff
Set and monitor adherence to work performance standards
Distribute work load
Provide coaching and mentoring
Facilitate quarterly review of Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and Individual Learning and Development Plan (ILDP)
Ensure communication to field management by discussing operational issues/concerns, etc
Facilitate training for Field Interviewers
Implement disciplinary actions to staff, as needed, in consultation with People & Culture
Discuss annual performance appraisal of direct reports

Field Management Responsibilities

Prepare field cost standard
Handle scheduling of projects
Maintain accredited list of 3rd party suppliers
May attend client’s meeting/presentation without the presence of Senior Manager
Handle crises such as discrepancies and coordinate with the heads of other units/clients on the issue
Update project monitoring
Develop innovative survey techniques
Set up field standards/protocols

Administrative Responsibilities

Ensure project customer satisfaction
Update list of venues for Central Location Test and Studies
Update transportation rate
Maintain security of product samples, ad materials, questionnaires, project folders, tokens, etc.
Conduct internal audit
Review and update ISO documents

Knowledge and skills required:

College Graduate
High Leadership Skill
Good Networking Skill / Service Orientation
Results-Oriented
Able to write and speak clearly
Willing to travel

Experience

At least three (3) years experience as Associate Field Manager or in any other similar position.
